What is to know about ‘sleep bundle’ options

Shopping for a mattress can be tough. You’re looking for the right mattress for you, whether you’re a hot sleeper or side sleeper, and it can be an expensive endeavor. It doesn’t feel easier when you then visit a brand’s website and see announcements about “sleep bundles.”

Think of a sleep bundle like you would a gift set. It’s a compilation of multiple items put together that appears to offer more bang for your buck. Take the Sealy sleep bundle for example. It’s a bundle that comes with two memory foam pillows, a sheet set and a mattress protector.

A queen size set can cost you $179, but during peak promotional sales, like Sleep Week or Labor Day, brands typically include a bundle with the purchase of a mattress. So say you were to purchase “The Chill Mattress” from Sealy, which currently is on sale for $700, Sealy is currently offering a promotion right now ahead of Sleep Week where you would get that sleep bundle thrown in for free.

Now while it’s great that you get this gift set thrown in, you do have to consider a couple of things.

Make sure the products fit your sleep habits

Sticking with this Sealy sleep bundle, the two memory foam pillows are filled with shredded memory foam. Our friends over at Good Housekeeping recommend for side sleepers to stick with pillows made with solid memory foam. Plushier pillows, though, are great for restless sleepers according to Good Housekeeping experts.

The sheets included in the set are made of polyester, but linen sheets could be better if you tend to be a hot sleeper, according to Good Housekeeping.

How much are you getting in the set

Switching over to Tempur-Pedic, they have a promotion going on where customers can get “$300 in free accessories of your choice,” with the purchase of a “qualifying mattress.” So essentially, create your own bundle.

We added to our virtual cart the TEMPUR-Adapt mattress (queen-size) and we were able to add two sets of their TEMPUR-Cloud Pillow, two sets of their TEMPUR-Neck Pillow and two sets of their TEMPUR-Classic cotton sheet set and save almost $500 when combined with another promotion going on.
