Quilts on display at Chillicothe library's Northside branch
CHILLICOTHE — For thousands of years, civilizations have made quilts to stay warm and tell stories. The art form can be found in many houses and is now on display at the Northside Branch of the Chillicothe & Ross County Public Library.
The idea for the show came from Carrie Bowdle, with the library, who saw groups meeting together regularly in library spaces to quilt together. These groups helped showcase the library's mission statement of learning and connecting with others.
As she dove deeper into the quilting world, Bowdle said she learned about the different groups that meet around town and the ways quilting has played a role in American history. The more she learned, the more people she found who were excited to show off their work.
"I have gotten such a great response from the community," said Bowdle.
The theme for the show is Color Your World, and over 25 quilts are expected to be on display at the library, each with its own unique story. While on display, the quilts will include a small blurb from the creators about why they chose the design, colors and more.
The quilt show will be on display at the Northside Branch of the Chillicothe & Ross County Public Library throughout the months of June and July. Patrons are encouraged to visit the show during the library's hours to see what local crafters have made.
